Iain: Hello {{ subscriber.first_name | capitalize() or "friend" }}. It’s October which depending on how old you are and where you come from is either the *Spoookiest of Months* or just that month that comes
before November.
Heide: I do like Hallowe’en.
Iain: Do you?
Heide: It’s fun, it’s silly and it’s an excuse to dress up however you like.
Iain: Have you just described yourself there?
Heide: AND you don’t have to waste money or precious resources on buying people gifts they don’t want, unlike other certain holidays. AND you don’t have to travel all over the place to visit relatives.
Iain: So, Hallowe’en can be a very environmentally friendly celebration.
Heide: It can! Speaking of avoiding expense, we’ve got some *f*r*e*e* books coming up soon.
Iain: Oooh.
26th October – 28th October

30th October – 1st November
A Heart in the Right Place – our sweet father-son road trip story (with werewolves!) is a free Kindle download. Click here: readerlinks.com/l/1850028
Iain: It’s worth mentioning that both are also available on Audiobook (for 1 credit each) and narrator Matthew Lloyd Davies has done a stunning job of bringing these stories to life. Worth a listen.
Heide: Also, thinking about stuff that doesn’t cost a penny, we should mention our Makey Flakey Art event this week.
Iain: Yes, we’ve got a Zoom call set up and we’re going to meet up with whoever fancies joining us and do some pumpkin carving at the same time. It’s not entirely cost-free. I bought my pumpkin today from Sainsbury and it cost a mighty £1.50!
Heide: Iain Grant – last of the big spenders.
Iain: My family will be eating pumpkin risotto and pumpkin pie for the rest of the week.
Heide: I’ve set up a facebook group, so that we can co-ordinate. I know that not everyone is a fan of Facebook, but it will also be a place where we can share pictures of our finished artwork.
Here are the details for the call. It’s scheduled for 21st October at 6pm – 7:30pm (BST)
Here are the Zoom details: Join Zoom Meeting https://us05web.zoom.us/j/82768157626?pwd=MlVPK29RWWg4eUZTNTB5SXJEUXpiZz09 Meeting ID: 827 6815 7626 Passcode: d1asZf
Heide: Before we sign off, we should mention that we’ve put a new book up for pre-order.
Iain: Yes! “Tigerheart”, the fourth book in the Sam Applewhite series is available for pre-order on Amazon. Click here: readerlinks.com/l/2091876. Here’s the back cover blurb...
Desperate men take desperate actions.
When an armed robber targets a local bank, things quickly go wrong and hostages are taken. Retired magician Marvin Applewhite finds himself in the firing line and no magic tricks are going to get him out of this situation.
The police say they’ve got the matter under control but Marvin’s security consultant daughter, Sam, thinks there’s something strange going on. Why has a law-abiding man suddenly turned to crime? How can it be an armed robbery if the robber has left his gun at home?
As the hours tick by and the threat of violence escalates, Sam has to put the pieces together before it’s too late because, in this money heist, things just don’t add up…
Heide: Sounds gripping.
Iain: Well, you wrote it so I hope it is. We’ve got books 5 and 6 also penciled in for later in 2022. If any newsletter subscribers have any thoughts, theories or wishes as to what should happen in those later books, we’d love to hear them.
Heide: Hope to see some of you on Zoom next week but do drop us an e-mail. We’re always happy to hear from you.
