Heide and Iain’s Books
Heide: Hello {{ subscriber.first_name | capitalize() or "friend" }}.
We have been thinking about ways to connect
with readers. It’s not so easy to get out and mingle at the moment, even though things are gradually returning to normal.
Iain: Yes, so there’s an idea we had. It’s either incredibly stupid or quite fun, I haven’t decided.Heide: Fun, definitely. So we want to do some sort of live event online.
Iain: So, you, the readers, might be thinking that it would be book-related, but no!
Heide: We wanted it to be more sociable. We’ll be on a call and we will make or do something.
Iain: Why, Heide? Why?
Heide: Because then it’s a shared experience. Something uncomplicated but briefly absorbing and we talk about it as we do it. Then afterwards we can (optionally) share what we did on a facebook group page
Iain: So we’re going to give it a try?
Heide: Yes we are. We will make a hand puppet on our first call, something very basic. Ideally we will all use what we have to hand. I’ll suggest 2 squares of felt and some embroidery thread to sew it together, but maybe you want to make one from a jiffy bag, fixing it together with staples. It’s fine whatever you do. Find something to give it some features too, whether it’s buttons, stickers or perhaps you’ll draw the face with thread or pens.
Iain: What if people have questions?
Heide: We’ve set up a facebook group, so that we can co-ordinate. I know that not everyone is a fan of Facebook, but it will also be a place where we can share pictures of our finished artwork.
Here are the details for the call.
It’s scheduled for 5th September at 10am - 1130am (BST)
