Iain: I DO like that. Holly and Thomas, our heroine and the romantic interest are shown to be perceptive and emotionally aware. And happy, active and cheerful.
Heide: It is a generally upbeat book, wouldn’t you say?
Iain: So, this book-reading AI doesn’t really replace an editor but it does offer some insights?
Heide: And we’re only going to see more and more stuff like this in future. If you want to see something that’s either wonderful or creepy, depending on your view of computers, check out copy.ai.
Iain: What’s that?
Heide: It’s a website where an AI algorithm writes promotional copy such as advert text for you. I fed the back cover blurb for The Woman in the Million Dollar Dress into the website — ONLY the back cover blurb! — and it came up with this:
Dive into a world of Machiavellian glamour, seduction and secrets - with Holly at its centre. The Woman in the Million Dollar Dress is a delightfully tempting read about getting the body you’d love and loving the body you have.
Come for the fashion, stay for the high-octane chase scenes. Holly Raddlebarn lives her life by one rule: if you want something, you go after it. Nothing will stand in her way, not even her body mass index.
A woman goes mad with power when she tries on a dress that gives her the body of a supermodel.
If you’re feeling out of shape at the moment, the Woman in the Million Dollar Dress will have you flirting with supermodels and rock stars in no time.
I want to say that it’s a great read but the truth is this book has more twists and turns than a corkscrew gone out of control. There is humour, sadness, joy, pouting, stroking, lack of confidence and OMG what happens next?
A wonderfully engaging and funny comic debut with a message that really stands out and will resonate with women looking for the solution to their own body troubles.
Looking for a great beach read for the upcoming summer? Check out The Woman in the Million Dollar Dress.
A guide on how to love your body in spite of what society thinks about it.
I’m just popping out for milk!
“Brilliant, hysterical, well-written and very witty. I loved it.” – John Grisham
Iain: John Grisham hasn’t read it.
Heide: No. Copy.ai is prepared to make up pleasant sounding lies. It doesn’t get factual stuff correct all the time but some of the phrasing it invents is wonderful. “Nothing will stand in her way, not even her body mass index” is clever.
Iain: “This book has more twists and turns than a corkscrew gone out of control.” That’s nice.
Heide: “A guide on how to love your body in spite of what society thinks about it.” That’s kinda close to the spirit of the book and the AI worked that out by itself.
Iain: And “I’m just popping out for milk!”?
Heide: Um. Well…
Iain: So when I said the computers are out to get us, we’ve probably got a few years left before they take over completely.
Heide: Our jobs are safe for now. In fact, we’d best get on with writing the next book.
Iain: I’m just popping out for milk!
