Heide and Iain’s writing newsletter - September 2015

Here's an update on all that we've been doing with Clovenhoof Books and other projects.
The next Clovenhoof book, Hellzapoppin’ is now available for pre-order. Details below.

Gears of Madness

In between his duties on the Clovenhoof novels, Iain has been writing a series of steampunk adventure stories in which –

Hang on, what’s steampunk? Oh, well steampunk is science fiction set in the golden age of steam.
Imagine what it would have been like if Victorian inventiveness had carried British explorers into space.
Imagine Sherlock Holmes meets Star Trek and you’ll be wrong, but not far wrong.

Anyway, Iain’s collected steampunk adventures are now available as a collected whole in a single volume called The Gears of Madness.

Goody and Grant LiveWrite

We’ve finished the first draft of the fifth Clovenhoof novel, Beelzebelle, and before we getting cracking on book six, we’re going to see if we can squeeze an entirely new novel in.
Inspired by the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), we are going to sacrifice sleep, food and family time to write an entire novel in November (and maybe a bit of December).
We’re going to be posting it as we write it at www.facebook.com/GoodyGrantLiveWrite

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Saturday 17th October 2015 3-4pm
Birmingham University: Book to The Future.
Things that Don’t Sell Books and Why You Should Do them Anyway.
Heide and Iain will be talking at Book to the Future about the many and varied things they do to connect with the reading public.
Some of them sell books and some of them don’t. Come along to learn why!
They will be hanging around afterwards to see the mighty S J Watson (Before I Go To Sleep) - you should too.

Saturday 24th October 2015:
Nottingham: Fantasycon
The launch of the new book will be at Fantasycon, which is a ticketed event.
Don’t worry, we will have an online launch as well. Keep an eye on Clovenhoof Books on Facebook for details of that.
If you do come along to Fantasycon, Heide and Iain are both appearing on panels.
The new book is...
Hellzapoppin’ - Clovenhoof book 4, featuring the Monks of Bardsey.
Now available for pre-order

Here’s what the book’s about:

Life at St Cadfan’s is never dull. There’s the cellar full of unexplained corpses. There’s the struggle to find food when the island is placed under quarantine. And there’s that peculiar staircase in the cellar…
Being a demon in Hell has its own problems. There’s the increasingly impossible torture quotas to meet. There’s the entire horde of Hell waiting for you to slip up and make a mistake. And there’s that weird staircase in the service tunnels…
Brother Stephen of St Cadfan’s and Rutpsud of the Sixth Circle, natural enemies and the most unnatural of friends, join forces to solve a murder mystery, save a rare species from extinction and stop Hell itself exploding.
The fourth novel in the Clovenhoof series, Hellzapoppin’ is an astonishing comedy featuring suicidal sea birds, deadly plagues, exploding barbecues, dancing rats, magical wardrobes, King Arthur’s American descendants, mole-hunting monks, demonic possession and way too much seaweed beer.

February 2016:
Beelzebelle - Clovenhoof Book 5 - featuring the much-awaited return of Clovenhoof and his gang.
