Heide and Iain's writing newsletter - Autumn 2014

Published: Sun, 10/12/14

Hi

Here's an update on all that we've been doing, and what's coming up. We've not written to you in a while, so there's a few things to catch up with.

1) WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO

2) PUBLISHING SCHEDULE

3) WHERE WE MIGHT SHOW OUR FACES

1) WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO

How to Write a Collaborative Novel Published

The how-to book of doing what we do!

Satan's Shorts published

A new collection of short stories. We rolled up the previously published shorts (Clovenhoof's Shed and Clovenhoof Goes to Nightschool) and added all of the other short stories we had. A bumper crop of ten, all together.

Steampunk Chapbooks

Iain has been working on an ongoing series of steampunk adventure stories and publishing them on Amazon every 3 months. The fourth book in this series of Victorian sci-fi adventures, The Bridge To Lemuria, has just been published.

The Pearl of Tharsis by Iain Grant published.

The 2nd of Iain's steampunk chapbooks is now available.

The Well of Shambala by Iain Grant published.

The 3rd of Iain's steampunk chapbooks is now available.

The Bridge to Lemuria by Iain Grant published.

The 4th of Iain's steampunk chapbooks is now available.

Heide on BBC radio Coventry and Warwickshire

1st April 2014

Heide had a chat with Vic Minett on the lunchtime show. Vic was amused by Heide's name, but let her chatter on about our books, so that made us happy!

Birmingham Independent Book Fair

Saturday 12th April

This was a day long event in the stunning Ikon gallery.

We sold books, chatted with lots of interesting people and had a great time.

The idea of the Birmingham Reader's Map had its first incarnation there, in the form of a physical map with flags. It's now available as a google map, so take a look. It shows locations across the Birmingham area that feature in stories and poems.

Heide and Iain interviewed by Adrian Goldberg on BBC WM

5th May 2014

This was really interesting as we went into the studio for it, and answered lots of questions about our novels and our writing life.

Off The Page author event at the Library of Birmingham

3rd June

A new set of events at the library to showcase local authors. We talked, people were kind enough to listen, we even sold some books!

Pigeon Park Press Children's Books

Iain has published his first children's book, Angel Bob, through Pigeon Park Press. You can buy as an e-book or paperback.

Angel Bob, a story about a young girl who makes friends with an earthbound angel, is illustrated throughout by the talented Giuseppa Baressi.

Look out for future children's books from Pigeon Park Press in the new year.

Ten To One

The groundbreaking project that saw ten writers completing a novel together has been finished. The manuscript has been edited and polished, and sports some stunning cover art.

It's called Circ, and we were thrilled when the Library of Birmingham offered to host the launch in their Library Theatre, as part of their Voices season.

Please come and join us at the launch event (the link is below)
