Heide: I spent the last two Christmases working in a garden centre grotto as Mrs Claus (and sometimes as an elf). It was so much fun, and so many mad things happened that I kept a document of stories to share with Iain.
Iain: And before long it was obvious — one book wasn’t enough. It had to be a trilogy.
Heide: These aren’t my grotto diaries, though. They’re the enhanced comedy version. Think silly humour, vulgar jokes, wild action, explosions, gangsters, drugs, dogs, and…
Iain: …reindeer on drugs?
Heide: Reindeer on drugs.
Iain: Honestly, these books feel the closest we’ve come to our original Clovenhoof vibe: silly, chaotic, big fun.
Heide: And speaking of fun, earlier this year we decided to make trailers for the books. Just a few little scripts, we thought.
Iain: Which spiralled out of control, of course. Smoke machines. Set dressing with rescued Christmas trees. A van we were allowed to destroy.
Heide: We even roped in professional actors. The result? Three over-the-top trailers, which we’ll be premiering properly on YouTube — one for each book.
Iain: So look out for Festive and the Furious, Runaway Santa, and The Rise of the Elves trailers
dropping soon.
Heide: These are definitely our biggest books this year. So expect a whirlwind of promos, events, and festive fun in the coming weeks.
Iain: We’ll be out and about too — library talks, general interest groups, and, for Birmingham Heritage Week,
some special events with the Pen Museum.
Heide: Yes! If you don’t know, Birmingham once made 75% of all the world’s pens. The museum is brilliant, and we’ll be hosting reader events and murder mystery fun
there. Click now to book tickets.
Iain: These books have been
such a joy to create. We can’t wait for you to read them, watch the trailers, and maybe even wear the T-shirt.
Heide: Honestly, we’re too excited.
