Iain: Well, it’s coming via e-mail from the ether-cloud-thingy but we were in Skegness when we wrote it.
Heide: That’s right. The weather’s perfect for once, really summery with a bit of a breeze.
Iain: Just right to celebrate the release this month of A Brush with Death, the second book in our Lyme Regis Women’s Swimming Club series. It’s the second book featuring our fantastic amateur sleuths.
Heide: Yes, our sleuths led by the unofficial leader of the Swimming Club are to be found interfering with a police investigation yet again.
Iain: And all of
Annie’s friends — Figgy, Rosamund, Helen — get involved in the shenanigans while solving the mystery of an artist who dies on the Cobb in Lyme Regis.
Heide: It’s a real joyful story and a great summer read. We had a lot of fun with the Lyme Regis series. Not least because it led to us doing a bit of sea swimming ourselves.
Iain: Anyone who follows us knows we did plenty of sea swimming research for this — and I got a bit of abuse for being a
cowardy custard and complaining about the cold!
Heide: But we did get a marvellous picture last time, taken at sunrise on the beach in Swanage, just up the road from Lyme Regis.
Iain: We looked like two orcas at play!
Heide: There’s very little detail in that photo, thankfully.
Iain: We also had some fun with art to celebrate the launch of this art-themed mystery book. Yes, inspired by classic TV series
like Vision On and Take Hart –
Heide: Where Tony Hart was the self-appointed boss of all art! You didn’t get your picture on his show unless he’d picked it.
Iain: Er, yes. Well, we decided to democratise art — we took direct action and just decided that our impromptu art exhibition would feature anything we chose to create.
